Urban Golf Course in Freiburg, Switzerland
Some will be original, others absurd, but certainly the initiative to promote golf to boost urban tourism in the city of Freiburg is striking. In fact, it is a pioneering experiment in a country with more traditional golf courses. But this is hardly traditional. Is an improvised 18 holes of four hours’ duration with which golf enthusiasts but fundamentally any tourist can visit the city in a different way.
The urban area will discover views of the Gothic cathedral, the medieval city walls, the river Sarine and the streets filled with Freiburg slopes. There are some differences with the traditional game. Using a single stick, a special ball (lighter and rubber), there are no flags marking the holes and needed 7 strokes per hole, although the rules are not as stringent. In any case, the slogan is to have fun and meet the capital’s medieval Swiss canton, one of the best preserved historical centers of Switzerland.
